2009 Electric Tesla Roadster - The Electric Tesla Acid Test
2009 Electric Tesla Roadster - Electric Convertible Sport Coupe - Automobile Magazine
To truly put the Tesla to the test, we had to live with one, make it part of the family, treat it like any enthusiast car, and plug it in at night. But what would we think of it in the morning?

The assignment was simple, or so it seemed. I'd spend a week driving the Tesla Roadster, using it as I would any other car, to see if it was compatible with the lifestyle of someone who has gasoline running through his veins and whose entire identity hangs on the cars he drives.inline_mediumwraptextright26511790/green/reviews/0911_2009_tesla_roadster_electric_car0911_01_z+2009_tesla_roadster_electric_car+front_view.jpgTrue

2010 Mazda6i Touring Plus - Mazda Midsize Sedan Review - Automobile Magazine
The Mazda 6 is one of the car world's great unsung heroes.

When the four-cylinder Mazda 6 i Touring showed up to our office, I had my doubts that the 170-hp engine could keep up with the larger body style of the 6, especially when mated to the automatic transmission. But 120 miles later, I can say that I was wrong. The Mazda's engine is more than capable, and the five-speed automatic transmission isn't lazy. As a result, the Mazda6 is actually a peppy car.inline_mediumwraptextright26742220/reviews/editors_notebook/0910_2010_mazda6i_touring_plus0910_02_z+2010_mazda6i_touring_plus+front_three_quarter_view.jpgTrue

Driven: 2010 Lexus HS250h
2010 Lexus HS250h - Lexus Midsize Hybrid Sedan Review - Automobile Magazine
A very good hybrid, but not quite a great Lexus.

Lexus is no stranger to hybrids, as the company for years has offered hybrid versions of its LS and GS sedans and its RX crossover. All of those hybrids shared a similar philosophy: They prize performance first, often out-accelerating their non-hybrid counterparts, and put fuel economy second -- although they usually have managed to provide better-than-average mpg numbers as well. Each one was a great Lexus -- plush, quiet, powerful -- but as a hybrid, none was the dramatic green statement that the Toyota Prius is.

Auto Union's Technical Strides
Auto Union's Technical Strides - Auto Union History - Automobile Magazine
Auto Union's racing program made huge technical strides during the Age of Titans.

Though they were highly successful during the Age of Titans (1934-39) era with 24 Grand Prix victories to their credit, the Auto Union racers designed by Dr. Ferdinand Porsche were not the first to use a mid-engined layout. The Benz RH (Rennwagen Heckmotor) designed, constructed, and raced by Mannheim's Benz & Cie. beginning in 1922 (four years before their merger with Mercedes was completed) owns that honor. Four RH cars were built and two scored respectable finishes at their debut in the 1923 Monza Grand Prix.
