Quite the number.

Not so long ago, General Motors was able to justify having at least one brand for every day of the week. In postwar America, Oldsmobile lay comfortably in the middle of GM's brand hierarchy as the maker of cars for middle-class folks who enjoyed the latest features but wanted something more reserved than a Cadillac or a Buick. Oldsmobile's dignified customers still appreciated horsepower, as evinced by the famous overhead-valve Rocket V-8 of 1949, but the division's performance image was in decline by the early 1960s. In April 1964, though, just six months after the historic release of the Pontiac GTO, Olds boosted its reputation with its own big-engine package -- the 442 -- for its newly redesigned F-85 series, which shared its platform with the GTO as well as the Chevrolet Chevelle and the Buick Skylark.

The ideal suburban runabout for affluent middle-aged folks.

I'm amused that a cargo net is a $59 extra. Really, Lexus, you can't throw in a $59 cargo net as part of the $45,700 base price?

2011 Nissan GT-R
The base GT-R has been dropped, leaving the Premium as the only model for 2011. Nissan has added rear cooling ducts to enhance cooling performance around the rear floor. Additional changes include a suspension retuned for a better ride, double clear coat on the fascias, and standard auto on/off headlamps, speed-sensitive wipers, USB iPod interface, Bluetooth audio, and XM NavTraffic and NavWeather capability.

The GT-R, while new to the US, has its origins In the Nissan Skyline, which has been in production in Japan since the 1960's. The GT-R now gives Nissan America a supercar to tout. It is a 2+2 coupe that can hang with the best in the world in virtually all of the merits that make a supercar, super. This road going rocket is one of the most comfortable of the cars in its class with a decent amount of interior space and a wealth of available options. While its ride would be considered stiff, it's still not as bad as some of its competition.

The GT-R, with a first time rear transaxle to power its all wheel drive system is one of the quickest production cars on the road its powered 3.8 liter V-6 that can generate 485 HP and 434 ft. lbs of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels through a custom dual clutch automatic transmission. Big Brembo disc brakes all round help keep the vehicle on the road when you get going too fast. Nissan has built a world beater that can be purchased for much less than a standard supercar.

2011 Nissan Frontier
2011 Nissan Frontier
For the 2011 model year, the Frontier’s lineup gets a minor shakeup and some revised packaging. A new SV model replaces last year’s SE, and is available with an exclusive Navy Blue exterior paintjob. Short-wheelbase S and PRO-4X Crew Cabs can now be had with a six-speed manual, while SV, PRO-4X, and SL models receive a vehicle immobilizer and bed rail caps.

The Nissan Frontier is Nissans newest pickup and is now in its own second generation. It competes in the dwindling midsize truck segment. Once this was one of the most contested genres, but of late, there are only a few auto makers who remain to compete in this class. The Nissan frontier is one of the main competitors here.

This generation of frontier is more comfortable and civilized than the previous iteration. It features a very car like ride and proves far easier to maneuver than its looks would suggest. The ride is, however, rather on the firm side. The Frontiers strength comes from a fully boxed, ladder frame, construction completely of steel. This frame rides on control arm suspension up front paired with an old school solid rear axle, with leaf springs to absorb the bumps.

Power for the Frontier comes from two engine choices; a base 2.5 liter four cylinder making 152 HP or a 4.0 liter V-6 good for 261 HP. Either engine can be matched to either a 5 or 6 speed manual. A five speed automatic comes as an optional transmission.

2011 Nissan Cube
2011 Nissan Cube
Now in its third model year, the 2011 Cube receives revised content, a new exterior hue, and improved emissions certification. The 1.8 SL with the Preferred Package and the 1.8 S Krom Edition get an enhanced SD card-based nav system with real-time traffic updates. Golden Ginger replaces Moss Green on the paint list. And in California, the Cube is certified as LEV2-SULEV.

After the success of the company's Scion XB, the cube takes over as Nissan's box on the road. This class includes the Element from Honda and Kia's Soul. The Cube does its best to standout from the pack by utilizing unique styling cues, such as a wraparound rear window, a side opening rear door and a spacious cabin offering a reclining rear seat and high style headliner.

The Cube is a four door hatchback. With plentiful headroom and legroom for all occupants, the Cube is good place to spend some time. However, it does lack some of the cargo space of the competition.

The cube is based on Nissan's B platform and is powered by a 122 HP 1.8 liter four cylinder which can be mounted to either a six speed manual transmission or a continuously variable transmission, or CVT. Some of the drive train features are somewhat less modern. The beam rear suspension, drum brakes and 15" wheels are some examples of these. The cube also has a higher than normal center of gravity and soft suspension, giving it less than confidence inspiring.

2011 Nissan Armada
2011 Nissan Armada
For 2011 the Armada’s lineup has been shuffled. The new SV and SL replace the previous SE and Titanium, respectively, while the top-of-the-line Platinum continues unchanged. New exterior (Espresso Black) and interior (Almond) hues are added to the color palettes. All two-wheel-drive models now come with a 2.94 rear axle ratio, helping increase towing capacity to 8200 pounds.

The Armada is Nissans full sized (and I mean FULL sized) SUV. By most Japanese SUV standards, this is a monster. Imparting many of the favorite aspects of big trucks, such as it's towing capacity of 9100 lbs. and true off the road performance, it is still able to hang with the best of them on the streets. It can go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 6.8 seconds and stop from 60 miles per hour in 128 feet. Either of these an amazing feat for a vehicle this large. It handles well too, posting a .76g on the skid pad. All this combined with the castle on wheels size of its interior, which can seat 8 people. The price from all this has to come somewhere and as one might well expect, the highest price is to be paid in fuel consumption. You just can't move a leviathan like this around with authority and get even decent gas mileage doing so.

As it is, the Armada averages just 12mpg city, and 18 highway, according to the EPA ratings. But many buyers will consider that a worthwhile tradeoff for all the versatility the Armada offers.

2010 Nissan Xterra
2010 Nissan Xterra
For 2010 the Xterra sees minor changes to a model line that includes X, S, Off-Road, and SE models, with all but the Off-Road available with two-wheel drive. Changes for the new model year include an X Gear Package -- available on S and SE -- which includes fog lamps, roof rack crossbars, a gear basket, first aid kit, and cargo net, with the last two exclusive to the SE.

The Xterra, aimed at younger, more active buyers, try's to blend style, toughness, and both on and off road performance. It won Motor Trends Sport/Utility Vehicle of the year in its first model year. Now in its 6th year of generation 3 continues that legacy into the new decade. It shares some parts with the Titan, the Armada, and the Pathfinder. These help contribute to the real off road prowess. Not just a vehicle for those who want to look like they've seen the outdoors, it will actually take you there. The Xterra is a viable rival to such rugged off roaders at the Jeep Wrangler and the Toyota FJ Cruiser. With its tough body on frame construction and live rear axle, little has changed since the Xterra won its second Motor Trend Sport/Utility vehicle title in 2006.

The Xterra is powered by a 265 HP 4.0 liter V-6 mated to either a 5 speed automatic transmission or a six speed manual. The Xterra may not be the smoothest riding or most plush SUV on the market, but for someone who will be spending some of their time off road further than a Starbucks parking lot, this model should be given a day in court before signing on the dotted line.

2010 Nissan Rogue
The Krom model joins the Rogue lineup, adding unique 17-inch aluminum wheels with 225/60 tires, a new front fascia with integrated fog lamps, rear privacy glass, a body-color rear spoiler, and center-mounted exhaust. Based on the Rogue S, the Krom can be equipped with either front- or all-wheel drive, and is available in red, black, and gray paint schemes.

The Rogue, which is Nissans long overdue entry into the compact crossover category, is based on the C platform. This is the same chassis as the Sentra sedan. Its agility and over the top styling have helped it wedge into a market where such perennial leaders as the Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4 dwell. The rogue is both longer their either of these two alternative and yet shorter vertically and narrower than both of them.

The first thing to be noticed about the rogue is its styling. This was contrived in California by Nissan Design America and is meant to be evocative a contemporary sporty look. The Rogue has it where it counts too, with four wheel independent suspension and big vented disc brakes all around. With available all wheel drive and 17" wheels it keeps it power train up the date as well.

The sole engine offering on the Rogue comes in the form of a 2.5 liter four cylinder which develops 170 HP. Interestingly, the sole transmission offered by Nissan for the Rogue is a CVT. Having another option may have helped as many people do not like the sluggishness that a CVT imparts.

2010 Nissan Pathfinder
For 2010, the Pathfinder LE receives a standard moonroof and the LE-V8 gets standard navigation. Opt for the new LE-V8 Value Package and get a DVD player with seven-inch color monitor for backseat riders. A fresh Premium Journey Package for the SE includes 17-inch alloys, backup camera, roof rack crossbars, 10-speaker Bose audio, XM satellite radio, Bluetooth phone capability, and intelligent key.

Since its introduction in 1986 as a body on frame two door, the Nissan Pathfinder has come a long way. It has grown larger over the years. Late into its first generation it added a second set of doors and switched to a more modern unibody construction. In its second generation, it dropped the two door option all together. Now into its 3rd production generation with a fourth on the way. It is in some ways a jack of all trades and master of nothing. Able to appeal to a more general crowd than most other SUV's. It retains much of its off road prowess while appealing to those who will never get mud on the fenders as well. It's grown large enough now to fit a 3rd row of seats. Also of note is the unusual process of going back to a more truck like body on frame, though it's likely the next generation will reverse that trend yet again and return to a unibody construction.

The current Pathfinder is powered by one of two engine choices: a 4.0 liter V6 good for 270 HP and a monster 5.6 liter V-8 making 310 Hp and a stump pulling 380 Ft. – Lbs. of torque.

2010 Nissan Altima
2010 Nissan Altima
The 2010 Altima receives prominent exterior modifications, notably a new hood with a "power bulge," a restyled grille and front bumper, and fresh wheel designs. The coupe gets similar updates but also adds projector beam headlights. For added safety, VDC is standard across the board. Inside, updated gauges, a 4.3-inch color audio display, and a USB port with iPod connectivity are all standard.

A class leader, and rightfully so. The 2010 Nissan Altima is the brands global sales leader. This made in America Nissan competes against the likes of the Honda Accord and Toyota Camry in the US's largest car segment, the midsize sedan. Especially with its optional V-6 engine, the Altima allows for the kids to be hauled around and still affords the driver some semblance of fun behind the wheel The Altima is available in Sedan, Coupe, or Hybrid formats. The V-6 included sport tuned suspension giving it better handling at a small sacrifice in ride quality. The four cylinder is more softly sprung but both are firmer rides than, say, the Camry. Another boon to the Altima as a driver's car is that in coupe form, the manual transmission can be mated to either the four cylinder or the V-6. This is a rarity in this segment as the V-6 option usually demands an automatic transmission.

The two engines available on the Altima are the 2.5 liter four cylinder with 175 Horsepower or the 3.5 liter which produces 270 HP.
