Very strict rules perhaps

I thought some more about my previous blog on our collective behaviour as drivers and thought that maybe not all is lost. What if we were given an extra inch and if a supplemental 32nd is taken, the penalties would be severe? Full story...

Crossovers are the modern evolution of traditional sport utility vehicles -- kind of new-millennium four-wheel Swiss knives! Over the past few years, this type of vehicle has gotten more and more diversified technically as well as aesthetically. In some cases, they even copy certain parts of passenger cars. No wonder consumers often get confused! Full story...

The Italian Job remake… with Lotus Evoras

In a stroke of genius the organisers of the prestigious Goodwood Festival of Speed decided on a theme of 'Viva Veloce' or 'The Passion for Speed' for the event this year (2-4th July). Capitalising on the momentum of such a flash of inspiration (and quite frankly we're always looking for any excuse to get out and about) Lotus jumped on the bandwagon and decided to put the press to work with a convoy of Evoras driving from Italy (Turin) to England (Goodwood) - the reverse journey to that of Charlie Croker and his cronies and hopefully without the added drama of bank robbery and literal cliff-hanger! Meet the Fiesta's Older Sibling

If you have a pulse and access to the Internet these days (the latter doesn't always require the former), you've probably been exposed quite a bit to the Ford Fiesta. The little Ford has been all over Youtube, Twitter, and (shameless plug alert) our own web site. But the Fiesta isn't the only hot subcompact launching this summer. No, we're also being introduced to its cute older sibling, the Mazda 2. Back in 2007, Mazda introduced its slick-looking, youth-friendly hatchback on the same B-segment platform that would spawn the Fiesta. It proved a huge hit in Europe, surpassing 100,000 sales in its first year on the market, and was named World Car of the Year for 2008. We liked it enough to conduct a rare European Four Seasons test on one, and called it a "great car for tough times." But until recently, there were no plans for the car to make it to our market, despite the steadily growing demand for budget-friendly subcompacts. Now Mazda, all but cut off from its sugar daddy in Dearborn (Ford still retains an 13.8 percent share), has decided to crash the Fiesta's party by launching the 2 here this summer.
