Summers here, and the driving is easy.
After suffering the indignity of a low-speed scrape in Chicago -- thanks, Toyota Camry driver -- we quickly whisked the JX35 off to the body shop, so it could be put right, in time for the summer road-trip season. May is the official kick-off to that season, and no one has embraced it more heartily than graphic designer John Kalmar. In fact, by the time the sun had set on Memorial Day Weekend, Kalmar had taken the JX35 on not one but two major in-state road trips in May.

Can we install a better infotainment system?
Of the criticisms of our 2013 Subaru BRZ Premium, few are louder -- or more easily remedied -- than those bemoaning the infotainment system. The standard system, which uses a touchscreen to link GPS navigation, Bluetooth and USB connectivity, and SiriusXM/AM/FM radio, has been criticized for its small buttons and confusing menu structure. We say easily remedied for a reason, however: the Subaru shares its dash layout (and its standard, double-DIN opening) with Scion, which means it's almost comically easy to pop out the factory radio and slide an aftermarket unit in. In our case, we went with the Pioneer AppRadio 2.

Although the BRZ's odometer only added 1381 miles in the last month, there were a few very intense miles in that mix. You see, it took about an hour for someone to find a track day after we remounted the stock summer tires. Of course we signed up.

Visually, the 2013 Lamborghini Gallardo is restrained (for a two-seat Italian exotic), with no outlandish bodywork that puts flash ahead of drivability. Still, this is not a conveyance for people looking to travel undercover.

The 2013 Bentley Continental Flying Spur sedan is a long-wheelbase version of the Continental GT coupe and convertible. Unlike those two-door models, which have recently been redone, the Flying Spur is based on the first-generation Continental.

There are no significant changes for 2013, since an all-new Flying Spur is coming soon. The 2013 Maserati GranTurismo is really too big and heavy to be a racetrack star, but it excels at being sexy, sounds amazing, and is a comfortable grand tourer for four people while being quicker and faster than almost anything else on the street.

The S Automatic coupe has been replaced by the more powerful Sport coupe. The 4.7-liter V-8 gets a 10-hp boost, so it’s now available in 444- and 454-hp versions. The seats are newly designed with integral headrests. Sport models get a bolder front fascia. Front parking sensors are now standard on all but the MC. A two-speed front transmission, or Power Transfer Unit, allows the 2013 Ferrari FF to send torque to the front wheels without heavy driveshafts or differentials, and a built-in torque-vectoring capability allows the FF’s computers to adjust the car’s cornering attitude.

The 2013 Lamborghini Aventador replaced the Murciélago, and those were some pretty big shoes to fill. As one of the world’s preeminent supercars, the Murciélago was devastatingly quick and, despite its demure-for-Lambo looks, loud and brash.

Summer roadtrips keep the Dart busy.
Our general consensus is that the 2013 Dodge Dart is far better on the highway than around town, so it's no surprise the white sedan spent most of last month on long road trips. That allowed the car to rack up 1873 more miles and bumped its cumulative fuel-economy average up to 28.6 mpg.
