Opel Australia is to close its operations after less than a year of trading, General Motors has announced.
July light vehicle sales were as hot as the Texas sun. Automakers sold better than 1.3m cars and trucks last month, 13.9% ahead of July 2012. That yielded a seasonally adjusted annualised sales rate (SAAR) of 15.67m, the second-highest reading since December 2007.
Car sales in Germany rose by 2 percent in July. Germany joins France and Spain in posting sales gains last month, fueling to hopes that Europe's slump may be bottoming out.
The Toyota group now plans to build 10.12m vehicles in calendar year 2013, up 180,000.
