All Formula 1 aficionados know that 2013 marked Sebastian Vettel's fourth consecutive World title. However, Red Bull Racing's engine supplier Renault wants to carry the message that they won their 12th world championship.

This short fun video shows the Renault road cars taking on the Renault-powered Red Bull Formula 1 car, driven by David Coulthard.

F1: Mark Webber deletes criticism of Red Bull colleagues

From GMM

Comments in which Mark Webber was highly critical of his former Red Bull colleagues have been removed from the Australian's official website.

It has been no secret that Webber, who has left the world champion team and formula one to lead a more relaxed life with Porsche, has been enduring strained relationships with bosses Christian Horner, Dr Helmut Marko and teammate Sebastian Vettel.

Once very close friends and even sharing ownership of a GP3 team with the 40-year-old Briton, Webber admitted in the deleted comments that he and Horner are "probably not as close now as we once were".

"Christian is going to be with the team for a long time - indefinitely, you'd imagine, unless he gets an approach from somewhere else - so he's got to make sure that he tries to keep everything as smooth as possible," said Webber.

"In some cases that hasn't been something which might have benefitted me. That's put a stress on the relationship."

Webber's strained relationship with Austrian Marko, who has always vigorously championed Vettel's cause, has been much more obvious.

He said in the deleted comments: "I still don't really know his (Marko's) role in the team, so ... yeah. He was very critical of me from day one but in the end he's obviously brought Seb through and done a great job with that.

"He's probably disappointed that F1 teams have to have two cars. But they do," added Webber.

Mark Webber, 37, began his comments about former teammate Vettel in a complimentary tone, describing the new four-time world champion as "phenomenally gifted".

"We know that his strength is qualifying and the first five laps of the race. That's his signature punch. That's the hardest part to control," said Webber.

As for their relationship, however, Webber said: "There's so much water under the bridge between us that it's hard to think of more positives than negatives.

"That's a bit disappointing because you want to keep everyone in a respectful light, and give them as big a chance as possible, for as long as you can," he added.

"But I think there's probably too much that's gone on between us. Maybe when we're 50-odd things will be different but with what we've been through it's hard to draw a line under too much of it," said Mark Webber.

"For sure I'm not super-bothered by it and nor is he. That's just the way it is," he concluded.

Germany's Auto Motor und Sport reports that, when Bernie Ecclestone presented the retiring Webber at his last grand prix with a Brazilian flag bearing the signatures of his fellow F1 drivers, Vettel's was the only missing name.

But Bernie Ecclestone reportedly appeared after the post-race press conference at Interlagos and personally asked Vettel to sign the flag. "Webber was not pleased," said correspondent Michael Schmidt.

NASCAR buys Iowa Speedway

NASCAR officials announced that the privately-held sanctioning body has purchased Iowa Speedway “in a strategic move designed to expand its commitment to enhancing event experiences.”

The move is unprecedented in the 65-year history of NASCAR. While Bill France Sr. founded NASCAR all of the ovals built under its' umbrella have been owned by the publicly held International Speedway Corporation (ISC).

“Iowa Speedway is a great entertainment facility with a very bright future,” said Eric Nyquist, NASCAR vice president, strategic development. “The facility has the support of the region, it's positioned well in the heart of the Midwest, and year in and year out it provides great short-track racing action for motorsports fans.

In a press release officials said “NASCAR has no plans for Iowa Speedway to host a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race next year or in the immediate future.

“NASCAR ownership will allow us to draw on the entire resources of our company. It also provides us with the opportunity to execute first-hand a number of entertainment ideas and engagement opportunities with fans - much of which we have outlined repeatedly as the core of our Industry Action Plan.”

The facility, located 30 miles east of Des Moines in Newton, features a fast, .875-mile asphalt paved tri-oval designed by NASCAR Hall of Famer Rusty Wallace. The Speedway released its 2014 schedule earlier this month, encompassing three weekends, one each in May, July and August. The schedule will include two NASCAR Nationwide Series races, a combination NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and IndyCar Series weekend, plus two additional NASCAR K&N Pro Series support races.”

"We have no intentions to purchase other tracks," NASCAR David Higdon told the Des Moines (Iowa) Register.. "This isn't the first of many. This is a unique situation."

F1: Giedo Van der Garde to move to Sahara Force India?

Stay connected Subscribe to our RSS feed
Dutch Formula 1 driver, Giedo Van der Garde is supported by wealthy sponsors and could find a new home at Sahara Force India in 2014.

RTL Nederland has reported that Marcel Boekhoorn, one of the richest Dutch businessmen and billionaire, could be interested in buying into Sahara Force India Formula 1 team.

One of the co-owners of the Indian team is fellow countryman, Michiel Mol.

Van der Garde's long-time girlfriend is Denise Boekhoorn, Marcel's daughter.

Marcel Boekhoorn is a major investor in the Netherlands, and is reportedly a major investor in McGregor Fashion Group, Giedo's main sponsor this year at Caterham.

Sahara Force India has now to choose its 2014 drivers between Adrian Sutil (sponsored by Medion), Van der Garde (McGregor), Nico Hulkenberg (no major personal sponsor), Sergio Perez (Telmex), maybe Pastor Maldonado (PDVSA), and Briton James Calado (the current third driver).
