The American-built 2013 Nissan LEAF will undercut last year's model by 18% and start at $28,800 US, making it the most affordable five-passenger electric vehicle south of the border.
Even more interesting for American customers, federal and state tax credits can drop the price to as low as $18,800 US.
The 2013 Nissan LEAF is available in three trim levels:
Model MSRP
LEAF S $28,800 US
LEAF SV $31,820 US
LEAF SL $34,840 US
New on the 2013 Nissan LEAF are 17'' alloy wheels and leather upholstery (SL models), available Around View Monitor and seven-speaker Bose stereo, as well as a 6.6 kW on-board charger that significantly reduces 220V charging times (standard on SV and SL models).
Hopefully, Nissan Canada will follow suit with similar price cuts.
