On December 5th, 1893, Canada's first electric car hit the scene. Built by Dickson's Toronto and purchased by F.B. Featherstonhaugh, it had a range of about 24 kilometres.
Of course, it didn't pan out and was rapidly eclipsed by the gasoline-powered automobiles of the 20th century.
