Turning his fastest lap in the final 15 minutes, Gustavo Yacaman led Thursday evening's TUDOR United SportsCar Championship night practice for Saturday's 17th Petit Le Mans.
Yacaman ran a lap of 1m14.923 in the No. 42 OAK Racing Ligier J2 P2/Honda co-driven by Alex Brundle and Ho-Pin Tung.
The 10-hour distance classic at Road Atlanta will be the second race for the Ligier chassis in the U.S., coming off a TOTAL Pole Award by Brundle and a second-place finish in the recent race at Austin's Circuit of The Americas.
Richard Westbrook was second in the No. 90 VisitFlorida.com Corvette DP, 1m14.991, followed by Sebastien Bourdais, 1m15.056 in the No. 5 Action Express Racing Corvette DP shared by Prototype points' leaders Joao Barbosa and Christian Fittipaldi. Bourdais had the fastest lap of the day during the afternoon session, 1m14.610.
Bryan Sellers also waited until the closing minutes to lead GT Le Mans (GTLM), running 1m19.060 in the No. 17 Team Falken Tire Porsche 911 RSR that won the ALMS GT class in last year's event.
Alex Job Racing ran 1-2 in the night session in GT Daytona (GTD). Mario Farnbacher ran a lap of 1m22.504 in the No. 23 Heart of Racing Porsche 911 GT America.
IndyCar racer Jack Hawksworth led Prototype Challenge (PC) with a lap of 1m17.250 in the No. 08 RSR Racing AutomaxUSA.com ORECA FLM09.
Fifty-one cars participated in the session. The largest field for Petit Le Mans was 52 cars for the race in 2011.
