Felipe Massa took over from Romain Grosjean as the fastest man on track, testing ahead of the 2013 season, in Jerez, Spain.
Meanwhile, Mercedes finally got to turn some proper laps with its new W04, as Nico Rosberg recording 148 laps and the second fastest time of the day, behind Massa who, in the Ferrari F138, became the first driver at the Jerez venue to lap below the 1min18s.
His fastest lap was almost a full second faster as Rosberg's.
Sebastien Vettel (Red Bull RB9), and Kimi Räikkönen (Lotus E21), who were sampling their new cars for the first time, were third and fourth fastest respectively.
Jean-Éric Vergne (Toro Rosso STR8), Esteban Gutierrez (Sauber C32), Valtteri Bottas (Williams FW34) and Charles Pic (Caterham CT03) were the other drivers in action for the first time in 2013.
James Rossiter, the former Honda test driver turned simulator specialist for Force India, added 42 laps to his total this week, behind the wheel of the VJM06.
After completing his runs, he turned the car over to Paul di Resta, who managed only seven laps before being stopped by exhaust problems.
