Dane Kevin Magnussen topped the time for McLaren on the opening day of the young driver test at Silverstone circuit in the UK.
Kevin, the son of former McLaren driver Jan Magnussen, lapped the circuit in 1m33.602, and completed 100 laps of the Northamptonshire track.
A few weeks on from the British Grand Prix, F1 returned to Silverstone circuit with the slight difference that the teams are operating out of the old paddock on the short straight down to Copse corner.
Also very different to the previous visit was the weather: with air and track temperatures approaching 30 and 45 degrees respectively; ideal weather for testing.
Paul di Resta, testing tires for Sahara Force India and Pirelli, came in second place, just one tenth of a second slower than Magnussen.
Formula Renault 3.5 competitor, Antonio Felix Da Costa drove the Red Bull RB9 to third place overall, edging James Calado in the Force India and Daniel Jundacella in the Renault-powered Williams.
Johnny Cecotto, son of former motorcycle champion and F1 driver Johnny Cecotto, was 6th in the Toro Rosso.
Robin Frijns in the Sauber, Nicolas Prost in the Lotus, Davide Rigon in a Ferrari, Alexander Rossi (Caterham), Tio Ellinas and Max Chilton (Marussia) followed in order.
