Swiss driver Fabio Leimer converted his pole position to victory in the first of two GP2 races held this weekend in Bahrain.

The Racing Engineering driver, who already took win in the opening round in Sepang, took his second season win ahead of Stefano Coletti, winner of race 2 in Malaysia.

Having started on soft tires, Leimer had to make an extra pit stop and earn his lead back before he could get on the podium. The Swiss driver managed just that, crossing the line some two seconds ahead of Coletti.

Alexander Rossi, standing in for Chinese driver Ma Qinghua in team Caterham, completes the podium.

Because he finished 8th, Tom Dillmann will start from pole for the second race. The Frenchman won last year in similar circumstances.
