With origins in developing advanced flywheel energy storage for vehicle applications, Williams Hybrid Power (WHP) was formed in 2008 when Williams F1 took a stake. WHP is developing a version of its flywheel system for use in Williams F1's Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS) to be introduced in its Formula One cars in 2009.
