McLaren will launch the new track-only 650S Sprint at the upcoming Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in California (August 14-17). The stripped-out racer will make its global debut alongside a number of other models from McLaren Automotive, including the McLaren P1 GTR.
Based on the 650S Coupe, the McLaren 650S Sprint is fitted with developments to the Brake Steer system, even more refined active aerodynamics and a race set-up for the ProActive Chassis Control (PCC) -- upgrades that deliver a more engaging GT racing experience. The interior features a single carbon fibre HANS-approved racing seat with full 6-point harness, but a passenger seat is optionally available. There's a fire extinguisher, too.
The 650S Sprint shares a number of design features with the recently announced 650S GT3 race car, shown at the Goodwood Festival of Speed last month. Finished primarily in white, the design features the new Tarocco Orange paint seen on the GT3, with subtle black and white detailing throughout. McLaren also offers a CFD (computational fluid dynamics) developed aerodynamic package including a carbon fibre rear wing and front splitter as well as further lightweight components including a polycarbonate windscreen.
This car isn't cheap, obviously. Pricing starts at £198,000, equal to about $364,000.
