Forbes Magazine published the results of a study carried out by the Illinois-based NCIB (National Insurance Crime Board) on the most-stolen new and used vehicles in the United States. By looking at a similar study on the Canadian market conducted by the Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC), we can see that thieves have differing tastes on each side of the border.

Among other things, the study shows that top-selling used cars are stolen more often than new cars. In fact, they are most likely to be taken to chop shops to be stripped into parts, which are subsequently sold over the Internet or to unscrupulous dealers.
