A fair number of interesting stories came out of Geneva this week. We learned, for example, that Jeep almost got yanked from the UK market in 2012. And has apparently been saved by the (Fiat-built) Renegade. Volkswagen's little diesel difficulty isn't worrying GM Europe - Opel's boss wants to increase the diesel mix as he also adds a little electrification to the bowl. Even better, after years of losses and not a little restructuring pain (RIP Bochum and Antwerp plants), breakeven is on the cards this year.
The Renault-Nissan alliance expects to generate $6 billion in savings and synergies in 2018 by integrating more divisions and sharing resources better within the partnership, the companies said Friday.

The City of St. Albert in Alberta province said it would become the first municipality in Canada to order long-range all-electric buses to deploy on city streets for public transit use. BYD, the world's largest electric vehicle manufacturer, will provide the all-electric buses, which will be delivered to the city in late summer or early autumn this year.
