The Czech and Hungarian economies will be hit hard by Volkswagen's emissions scandal, analysts say. VW owns the Czech Republic's biggest carmaker Skoda, and produces engines in Hungary.

Volkswagen's UK unit said on Wednesday (30 September) it would recall 1,189,906 vehicles sold in the UK fitted with the software behind the emissions scandal. The tally includes diesel VW, Audi, Seat and Skoda models plus VW commercial vehicles.

Porsche has named production chief Oliver Blume as the new CEO at the VW Group subsidiary. The company also said that Porsche North America chief Detlev von Platen would succeed Bernhard Maier as the automaker's global sales boss.
