From press release

Formula 1600 series will return to Canadian Tire Motorsport Park's popular Victoria Day Speedfest Weekend, May 17th and 18th, 2014.

Jason Sharpe of Move Motorsports (promoters of both the Toyo Tires F1600 Championship and the Formula 1600 Super Series) and Myles Brandt (President and General Manager of Canadian Tire Motorsport Park) have reached an agreement to add the entry-level formula car series to the May long weekend event for 2014.

The weekend will be the second event on the Ontario based Toyo Tires F1600 Championship schedule and will also be the opening round of four events on the new and highly anticipated F1600 Super Series schedule, an interprovincial initiative between Move Motorsports and Quebec based Formula Tour.

Formula 1600 has long been known globally as the logical first step for young racing stars to learn their craft right out of karts. The cars are sleek, fast and provide the ideal balance of power and aerodynamics that encourage wheel-to-wheel action at an affordable price. The event will be a double header, with one race each on both Saturday and Sunday.

In the past Canadian racing legends including Scott Goodyear, Ron Fellows, Paul Tracy and the late Greg Moore all got their start in Formula 1600. Most recently NASCAR stars like the Dumoulin brothers, J.F. and L.P, as well as Indycar driver James Hinchcliffe and American LeMans series star Kyle Marcelli cut their teeth in this form of racing.

Additional announcements including the on-track schedule, sponsorships, regulations and registration will be forthcoming in the next few months.

What if your electric vehicle sang music?

Universal Music has developed a system that allows electric vehicles to ''sing'' and thus become more audible for pedestrians. Drivers will be able to download any of their favourite tunes to make their presence felt on the road.

''In addition to customizing their commutes to reflect their music tastes, EV owners will be able to communicate by creating a unique soundtrack with other EVs,'' said Jean-Luc Brès, managing director at Universal Music & Brands.

F1: FIA confirms Jean Todt staying president

From GMM

Jean Todt's continuing role as FIA president was confirmed officially on Friday.

Last month, it became clear the Frenchman would not be dethroned, as his only formal challenger, David Ward, pulled out of the race due to a lack of support.

"I would like to offer my congratulations to Jean Todt who will secure a second term uncontested if not unopposed," Ward said in November.

The news became official on Friday morning, as former Ferrari boss Todt, 67, was elected for a second consecutive four-year term during the FIA's annual general assembly in Paris.

Blessed Be Black Friday.

Early indications were that November would see a moderation of new-car demand, but once the final tallies were counted, the Thanksgiving Weekend -- centered around every marketer's holiest holiday, Black Friday -- pushed the monthly totals to a 9% gain over last year. Beating last November was no easy feat, because November 2012 was puffed up by sales to buyers all along the East Coast who had lost cars in Hurricane Sandy. But this November's torrid annualized sales rate of 16.4 million vehicles was much better than we had seen in October, and beat the hottest months from earlier this year. If December can maintain the trifecta of brisk sales, strong transaction prices, and low incentives, it's going to be a very Merry Christmas in the auto industry.

2013 Cadillac ATS - Who's Afraid of Rear-Wheel Drive?
2013 Cadillac ATS - Four Seasons Update - October 2013 - Automobile Magazine
Rear-wheel drive still scares away drivers who live in snowy regions.

Despite advances in stability control electronics and tires, rear-wheel drive still scares away drivers who live in snowy regions. That apparently includes ATS buyers. Cadillac says about 60 percent of them opt for all-wheel drive with the 2.0-liter four-cylinder and 3.6-liter V-6. (The base 2.5-liter four-cylinder is only offered with rear-wheel drive).

Car Buying: What Do Women Want? - Automobile Magazine
Carmakers aren't good at selling to us. Expert Tinesha Craig tells how to get what we need anyway.

It’s a fact: women make 62 percent of new car purchases and make nearly 80 percent of car purchasing decisions in the United States. So why are automakers still struggling to effectively target this huge buying audience? Tinesha Craig, director of the i on Women division of the market research firm Insights in Marketing, took a look at how women view the car buying process. She found that only 26 percent of women said they were "extremely satisfied" with the options available to them in the automotive market.
