VW has just reaffirmed its plans to deploy electric vehicles in the United States and Canada.
The company’s first hybrid is a version of the redesigned Touareg, which will arrive here later this year. It’s already on sale in Europe, and its hybrid powertrain features a supercharged 3.0-litre V6 and an 8-speed automatic for a total output of 380 horsepower.
In August of 2012, a hybrid version of the Jetta will make its way on our market. It will be followed in 2013 by either the E-Up! or the Golf blue-e-motion, as both will be available in Europe by then. The Passat Hybrid will also arrive in 2013, although it hasn’t been confirmed for North America yet.
Volkswagen’s mission is clear: they want to become the market leader in E-mobility by 2018.
