BMW plans to begin a car-subscription pilot in the U.S. next week, joining other automakers experimenting with new ownership models as ride hailing and smartphones upend traditional retailing.
Nissan has picked finance expert Gianluca de Ficchy to lead its automotive business in Europe. De Ficchy will replace Nissan Europe Chairman Paul Willcox, who is leaving the company for personal reasons, the automaker said.
GKN promised a quick cash handout for its shareholders if they back an improved takeover offer for its auto business, in a bid to see off a hostile bid for the whole company from turnaround specialist Melrose.
