Starting October 1st, 2014, the driver's licence in Quebec is valid for a period of eight years instead of four. This won't affect renewal procedures, and the new licence will be delivered at the same time as the province's public heath insurance card.
The Quebec government wants to improve customer service, and this is one more step toward that goal. It will also save tons of plastic and paper.
Note: Drivers aged 16-23 will have to wait until 24 to get a new 8-year licence.
