From Maritime Pro Stock Tour
After three weather postponements the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour finally completed the Ron MacGillivray Chev Buick GMC 150 at Riverside International near Antigonish, Nova Scotia.
The wait worked out for NASCAR Canadian Tires Series regular J.R. Fitzpatrick who took home the win in the No. 3 Nova Racing entry subbing for fellow NASCAR Canadian Tires Series competitor Jason Hathaway.
Fitzpatrick dominated, leading all 150 laps earning him the Linde Most Laps Led award.
Dylan Blenkhorn brought his car home in second place, followed by Fitzpatrick's teammate for the day, Donald Chisholm (Antigonish). Jonathan Hicken (Brudenell, PE) edged out Cole Butcher (Porter's Lake, NS) at the end for the fourth spot in the 21-car field.
The event's seven cautions involved drivers in the top-five in points.
Reigning series champion and current point leader John Flemming (Halifax, NS) slowed on the back stretch on lap 36 bringing out the first caution of the day. The electrical issue kept the No. 97 team in the pits for 49 laps and would wind up 19th on the day. Shawn Turple (Enfield, NS) and Blenkhorn, who are also in the points chase, encountered trouble bringing out the third caution of the day on lap 84, while lap 103 saw caution number five and ended Shawn Tucker's (Fredericton, NB) day. Tucker entered the Ron MacGillivray 150 second in points.
Jonathan Hicken (Brudenell, PE) who was fourth in points was also collected up in the fifth caution with Tucker.
Butcher collected his first career Atlantic Tiltload Time Trial award with a 14.362 second lap around the high banked, 1/3-mile oval. The King Freight Dash was won by Flemming with Dartmouth Dodge Heats going to Tucker and Chisholm.
Shawn Pierce (Bridgewater, NS) took home the Exide Batteries Hard Charger Award with his tenth place finish.
Colby Smith (Cape Sable Island, NS) won the Highland Home Building 100 as part of the NAPA Sportsman series prior to the Ron MacGillivray 150.
The Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour rolls into Petty Raceway on Saturday, August 23 for the Atlantic Dodge Dealers 150, a part of the River Glade International weekend. The event is Round 10 on the series and the Tour's final stop in 2014 to the province of New Brunswick.
