GM is citing a more 'refined focus' on their core products as the reason for temporarily reassigning their High Performance Vehicle Operations (HPVO) team. The team is made up of about 60 engineers based out of GM's Warren Tech Centre. Cadillac's mid-size crossover gets a makeover and hosts styling that's reminiscent of the CTS sedan. Both engines in the old model are dropped in favour of a pair of six-cylinder units. Launched for the 2004 model year, Cadillac is pulling the plug on its flagship XLR roadster. Using Corvette underpinnings and the luxury brand's 4.6-litre Northstar V8, the XLR never really sold in significant numbers--only 30 were sold in Canada in 2008--so its retirement won't be a big deal.
