The pre-customized 2009 Scion tC Release Series 5.0 sports coupe packs factory installed accessories and limited availability.

Scion's "United by Individuality" ad campaign along with all the custom accessories available for the 2009 tC can be a bit daunting to a buyer. Scion customers may even feel intimidated by the peer pressure to "pimp their ride." Scion has sought to remedy the problem with the latest iteration of the tC, the release series 5.0.

Stories That Don't Make It - Failed Story Concepts - Automobile Magazine
Some stories turn out great. Some stories just aren't meant to be told.

As a contributor to this august publication, I travel quite a bit. Perhaps you remember my insightful coverage of the 2005 Tokyo Motor Show. If so, you really need to up your dose of ginkgo biloba, because I never made it to the 2005 Tokyo Motor Show. For every story that makes it from concept to reality, there are several that crash and burn, and my confounded attempt to get to Tokyo was just one of many Stories That Don't Make It.

2009 Nissan Cube - Second Generation Nissan Cube First Drive Review - Automobile Magazine
Jean Jennings heads to Japan to prove our geek love for the box. Read all about her drive of Nissan's updated Cube here.

"I'm a little surprised that you want this car in America," said Nissan's bemused senior vice president and chief creative officer, Shiro Nakamura. The worldly Nakamura made an international splash when he arrived from Isuzu in 1999, with vehicles like the artful Murano, the revived 350Z, and the FX45. But as anyone who has been to Japan (or seen Nissan's Pivo 2 concept) knows, there are hometown conveyances that just don't translate off the islands. "When we made the first Cube, we had no intention of selling it outside of Japan. We thought it was probably too different, too unique for American people. But we wanted to test it."

2009 Lincoln MKX AWD
2009 Lincoln MKX AWD - Lincoln Midsize Crossover SUV Review - Automobile Magazine
While the MKX won't fool hard-bitten enthusiasts, this handsome crossover does appeal to exactly the clientele Lincoln needs - younger buyers without the slightest interest in Town Cars and Navigators.

I don't mind the styling of the Lincoln MKX and its corporate cousin, the Ford Edge, but the MKX doesn't really look like I expect a Lincoln to look. Instead, I see it simply as an Edge in fancy eveningwear. I think part of the problem is that, when the MXK was created, Lincoln's renaissance was just in its infancy. And even though there have been lots of new products, the brand has lacked a coherent design language until, arguably, this year. Styling cues are now shared across the MKS sedan, the MKZ sedan, the upcoming MKT seven-seat crossover, and even the C concept from this year's Detroit auto show, but the MKX is the odd man out.
