Moves by Ford to cut around 850 jobs across its UK facilities, and to freeze a recently negotiated 5.25% pay rise deal, have today (5 February) been denounced as a "betrayal" of a loyal workforce by the UK automotive industry workers' union Unite, which has warned the automaker that cutting workers' pay to meet redundancy payments could lead to industrial action.
