Russian oil company, Lukoil - main sponsor of Lada Sport - announced today that it will also back team RML in this year's World Touring Car Championship (WTCC).
Last season, Lukoil was the main sponsor of the Seat Leons TDi driven by Gabriele Tarquini and Alexey Dudukalo. The Russian company then joined Lada for the manufacturer's return in WTCC, with two Grantas driven by James Thompson and Alexey Dudukalo.
At the same time, Lukoil will back team RML's Chevrolets. The British team was in charge of Chevrolet's WTCC works programme for almost a decade, before the American constructor left the championship. RML will now run two private Chevrolet Cruzes for Yvan Muller and Tom Chilton.
