While we knew Porsche was planning a hybrid Porsche Cayenne for the Geneva show, news of a hybrid 911 admittedly caught us a little off guard. But the Porsche 911 GT3 R Hybrid race car, which will join the Cayenne on Porsche's Geneva stand, is a far cry from your conventional hybrid.inline_mediumwraptextright28272889/green/news/1003_2011_porsche_911_gt3_r_hybrid1003_03_z+2011_porsche_911_gt3_r_hybrid+front_three_quarter_view.JPG.jpgTrue
If you were wondering whether Porsche's premiere 911 Turbo S model was going to make a return in 997 guise, you can now sleep easy. Officially itâs only a concept, but thereâs no doubt that project XG10 -- or the 918 Spyder concept -- will pave the way for the next Porsche supercar. And what a supercar it is going to be: in addition to the normally aspirated, high-revving, 3.4-liter V-8 good for more than 495 hp, the striking 918 Spyder has three electric motors onboard that add another 215 hp to the tally. Says Wolfgang Dürheimer, board member in charge of R&D: âThis car can lap the Nürburgring faster than the Carrera GT. At the same time, it averages 78 mpg when driven gently. Are we going to build it? We will definitely bring some blank sales contracts to the Geneva show, but itâs too early to talk pricing, production volumes, and timing.inline_mediumwraptextright28273045/green/news/1003_2011_porsche_918_spyder_hybrid_concept1003_03_z+porsche_918_spyder_concept+front_three_quarter_view.JPG.jpgTrue
Go ahead Porsche purists, sigh once again. The controversial Cayenne soldiers on into a second generation thanks in large part to a successful worldwide sales campaign launched in 2002. As one might expect, the 2011 Porsche Cayenne improves on many of the outgoing's traits while getting a boost in fuel economy and in some cases, more power. And of course, the Cayenne lineup is even greener thanks to a new hybrid model.inline_mediumwraptextright26960753/features/news/1002_2011_porsche_cayenne2011-porsche-cayenne-turbo-front.jpgTrue
